Paris - Distance

For the past decade I used to live in different cities. I wanted to make a documentary about outsiders in a big cities, specially newcomers. What particularly intrigued me is the way most of these people not only live but more about their dreams and urge to try to find a meaning to their lives and get strength to survive one more day.

Once I asked one guy what is the worst part of the day for you, and he answered: “when I wake up, I open my eyes and then what, all over again.”

My intention was to depict 24 hours in the day of a newcomer, embrace fears and desires, seen from the low angle, as from the view of a person who is sitting on the street.

This journey took a part in upper Paris in winter/spring 2011, from Bastille to La Chapelle.
